2011 CONTEST Submission Guidelines
Contest Submission Period
- September 1 through November 30, 2010
Prizes (Each Genre)
- First Place–$300.00
- Second Place–$100.00
- First, Second, and selected Honorable Mention winners will be published.
- All authors whose work is published in Bacopa will receive one free copy.
- All submissions will be considered for publication.
Notification
- First, Second and Honorable Mention winners will be notified via email.
- Winners will be posted on the WAG website.
Genres and Word Line Limits
- Fiction—250 to 3,300 words
- Nonfiction—250 to 3,300 words
- Poetry—50 lines per poem
- Poetry—Submit up to three poems per contest submission
Submissions that exceed the word or line count will not be considered.
- No limit to the number of submissions a person may submit in any category
- Each entry requires an Entry Fee.
- Each entry requires a separate Entry Form.
Eligibility
- Manuscripts in English and Unpublished at the time of submission
- (Please notify Bacopa via email at bacopacontest@gmail.com if your submission is accepted elsewhere.)
- WAG Membership is not required
Method of Transmission–Email
- Complete Entry Form—NO mailed, paper manuscripts
Manuscript Format—Fiction and Non-Fiction
- Double-spaced
- One inch Margins, all sides, 0.5 Paragraph Indent, Ragged right
- 12-point type in Arial or Times New Roman ONLY
- Cover Page: Name, Address, Email, Phone, Title, Word Count, and a 50-word bio
- Page 1 and following: Title/Page Numbers Upper Right
- Page 1: Word Count under Title/Page Number
- Save the File in .rtf or .doc ONLY
(NOTE: Author’s name must not appear on the manuscript.)
Manuscript Format—Poetry
- Up to three poems per submission. Up to 50 lines per poem.
- Poems need not be double-spaced
- 12-point type in Arial or Times New Roman ONLY
- Cover Page: Name, Address, Email, Phone, and the Title(s) and Line Count(s) for each poem, and a 50-word bio.
- Save the file in .rtf or .doc only.
(NOTE: Author’s name must not appear on the manuscript.)
To Enter
- Fill out Entry Form for each submission. The type of submission should appear in the subject line. We must receive your Entry Fee at the same time you email your submission.
Entry Fees
- Writers Alliance of Gainesville (WAG) Members in good standing, your first submission in any genre is FREE. You will also receive a Free copy of Bacopa.
- WAG Members–Additional Submissions are $10 each
- All Others–$10 each submission
- Pay Here and include the title of your submitted piece so we can mark your entry fee paid.

Payment
You can remit payment by: PayPal. PayPal accepts credit cards and is easy to use.
If you have extenuating circumstances you can pay by Personal Check. However, your entry into the contest depends on whether we receive your check in time. It is safest to remit your fees by using PayPal.

Submissions not following all the above guidelines will not be considered.
Payment must be received by the contest submission deadline, 10/31/10, in order for entries to be considered.
